What Is Good Nonfiction Essay Topics?

What Is Good Nonfiction Essay Topics? The most important part of writing a good nonfiction essay is knowing what you want to say. You don't need to know the entire content of your topic, as all of it can be found in a little-known encyclopedia or printed form. The key is knowing what is important to convey to the reader, and how you want to do that. Here are some good nonfiction essay topics. One of the first things you should consider when choosing a topic is whether you want to discuss personal attributes, personality, ethics, philosophies, religious beliefs, or just about anything else you wish to talk about. Each topic will require its own essay. Most students find that what they write depends on what they are trying to accomplish in the class. Perhaps it is only necessary to convey an important point, but if you are trying to impress your professor, perhaps you need to talk about something entirely different.Good nonfiction essay topics are often based on a single theme. It might be a general or perhaps a specific question, such as 'What is the best way to tackle a particular problem?' Or it might be just about history and ask 'What does it mean to have freedom of speech in a democracy?' If you are a historian, for example, you may want to talk about the aftermath of the American Revolution. It is important to remember that as you write, you will most likely change your topic frequently. Perhaps you will see a new fact or hear a new argument, or the research you used in writing the first draft may change due to new information or new perspectives. Whatever the case, you will have to think about what it is you want to talk about each time you sit down to write. As you write, it is important to note which topic you want to write about next. Is it one subject that you know something about? Has anyone mentioned it before? If so, the next time you look it up, you should see a lot of new information.A student's mind is constantly changing, and with time, it can shif t even more from person to person. Therefore, a student will often use the same words and concepts and talk about those things over again. Writing good nonfiction essays is all about finding fresh ways to talk about something you are familiar with.It is sometimes hard to determine what the best way to talk about a particular topic is, but it is always good to go with your instincts. It is almost always better to talk about a subject from a new angle rather than doing things the same way. So don't be afraid to try new things to talk about a subject.

The Ultimate Gift By Jason Stevens - 1261 Words

The movie, The Ultimate Gift, is a moving example of how one man, who while in search for the â€Å"ultimate gift,† actually learned and gained many more precious gifts along the way. Jason Stevens was a man on a mission to get to the big pay-off at the end of his quest but thanks to his wise grandfather Jason gained much more than just money. Throughout his journey in the movie Jason was taught and given the gift of hard work, the gift of love, the gift of friendship, etc. After learning and receiving these gifts, it was only then that Jason would receive and truly be able to appreciate the ultimate gift that his grandfather had waiting for him. Jason struggled to complete the tasks, but with the completion of each task, he then was motivated to move on to the next task. This motivation to achieve certain â€Å"gifts† and then move on to the next one is explained in Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs. Maslow believed that people are motivated to achieve certain needs a nd then when the need is actualized then they will move on to the next one. The stages in Maslow’s Hierarchy are psychological, safety, social, esteem, and self- actualization. In The Ultimate Gift, Jason, in order to receive his grand prize, goes through stages within his missions that are very much like the steps in Maslow’s hierarchy of Needs. The first stage in Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs is the psychology stage. Question: Discuss about the Success Of A Jazz Musical Performance. Answer: The Purpose and Goal The objective of this project is to ensure the success of a Jazz musical performance in Switzerland by Best Events Inc. The focus of the project is the successful implementation of this end plan. Plan highlights ways in which the event can take place within the specified time and resource limits. The scope of the project revolves around the planning, implementation and coordination. Its challenges includes making time, effort and resource estimates(project management guru, 2012). The purpose of this project is to meet the business objectives for Best Events Inc. The management plans to host a global Jazz festival at the Montreux Jazz Foundation. This is a global event targeting an audience of 1000 Jazz fans. Effective management calls for the assignment of responsibilities and keeping the stakeholder interest as a best practice. Brainstorming New Zealand is a popular location for the event and this makes it easy to market the event venue. The performers are available, the announcement of dates is underway and. The final event of the tour marks the completion of the project. The end of the project is parallel to the clearance of the accounts at the end of the project. Consideration for the effective management and coordination optimizes on portfolio management for the performers and the professional employees (Laslo, 2010). Planning At this stage, the design of a work structure highlighting the planning, supervision and coordination(Zwikael Globerson, 2004). This prevents disappointment in the project. The following are the deliverables: Confirmation of the Participants Workers contracts signed Booking of the entertainment equipment Organizational support services and applications Quality control Activity Time Schedule Cost Target Returns Plan development 10-20th Oct $10.5m $200m Budgeting and Procurement 27 Oct-1st Nov $5.7m N/A Staffing 5-10th Nov $1.7m N/A Communication/Marketing 11-20th Nov $1m $32m Event ( performance, catering, security, logistics) 19-20th Nov $7.5m $80m Risk Management 10th Oct-21stNov 0.83m N/A The stakeholders in the project are suppliers in event services, caterers, and employees. The government of Switzerland, Best Event Inc. Jazz performing artists, local entertainment and the business community are the major stakeholders (Clark, 1989). Scheduling This is a plan whose completion is within the set period. The event planning starts on 10 October and lasts for ten days. The procurement process and staffing follow next. The communication and marketing plan starts on 11 November and continues onto the 20th of the same month. The event is set on the 20th. The plan take full force for a period of one and half months. Budget Control The creative team, technical team and marketing control most of the budget. The whole project costs about $27.23m. A contingency kitty caters for any deficits. The project expects to raise over $200m with advertising and performances raising the largest amounts. The Gantt chart ensures that project remains within the schedule and within the budget limits(Gantt Chart, 2012). Suppliers play a significant role in the success of the plan(Clark, 1989). Project management team The success criteria adopted makes use of the management support and the alignment of the project for success (Atkinson, Crawford, Ward, 2006). Planning is important because it saves time, resources and it helps to align the right skills in the right tasks (Bendoly Banchrach, 2010). The budget for this project includes estimations based on stakeholders and the workflow. This is a project done within a controlled environment therefore it features the classification of roles, tasks, risks and management costs. SWOT Evaluating the strengths and weaknesses helps to prioritize the projects (Bjornar, 2010). Coordination units need to compare the pros and cons for opportunities and threats in the planning and function s of the global event. Best Events Inc. is a leading events organizer in music performance and live events. This regional brand has a reputable brand name, the necessary structures and employees. The Jazz event is not the first in the region and Switzerland is a popular destination for the performance. However, it faces security threats as terrorism affects the global management strategies. Project Tools: Work Breakdown Structure In order to breakdown the work schedule into smaller components. Liaising with the stakeholders in the project is necessary because it predicts situations. For a good outcome, a distribution of the work, milestones, costs and tasks through a hierarchy helped to reduce project milestones into control points. Figure 2: WBS for Best Events Jazz concert Risk Management Some of the risks the even prepares itself for include changes in weather patterns and skills deficit. Unexpected events like skill deficit. The WBS helps to break down the risk into manageable and possible areas. From the table, it is possible to classify the technical risks into smaller categories such as black outs, function delays, schedule mix-ups and reservation issues. This saves costs because it is clear to view who is in charge and the money allocation segments for specific tasks(Clark, 1989). Figure 3: Gantt chart showing bar chart for scheduling projects Pros and cons of using the tools The WBS facilitates for the implementation of the Gantt chart. Therefore, it saves on costs. The high level of design prevents wastage of resources. Its detailed tasks connect with the WBS and it highlights responsibilities for greater accountability and consultation(Oni, 2008). The Gantt chart provides logical sequence that divides the project into smaller tasks. This clarifies the parallel and dependent steps. It shows schedules while indicating the constraints in the project. Although the Gant chart appears too streamlined, it ensures that resources are met and that milestones are met. The Gantt chart ensures that the project is within structural sharing with the stakeholders is possible(Yang Wei, 2010). Bibliography Atkinson, R., Crawford, L., Ward, S. (2006). Government Use of Media to Advance Foreign Policy Agenda

Government Use of Media to Advance Foreign Policy Agenda Abstract The following essay analyzes the relationship between the media and the government. The paper provides evidence that many governments, particularly those that exist in established democracies, openly employ media propaganda to advance their agendas in foreign policy. The different methods of research employed in this essay include content analysis, polls and surveys and the uses and gratifications model.Advertising We will write a custom essay sample on Government Use of Media to Advance Foreign Policy Agenda specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More Introduction While the original intention of the media was to provide an independent, bipartisan check to the power of any individual government, the power base of any established democracy relies on the media to communicate to its followers. This is especially true in the case of foreign policy. Various media outlets interpret international events and their effects on foreign policy acco rding to the political interests they serve. According to McCormick (2009), the media play an important role in foreign policy by virtue of what foreign policy issues they chose to report. Thus media coverage has a direct â€Å"influence on public’s attention to foreign policy,† as well as an enormous impact on what foreign policy issues become newsworthy (p. 546). The essential first step in foreign policy is to decide what information the public has access to, thus the role of the media as information gatekeepers becomes paramount (McCormick 2009; Spanier Hook 2009). Governments in established democracies therefore employ media propaganda to advance their agendas in foreign policy. Content Analysis Content analysis refers to the methodology used to examine the specific content of a given communication tool. For the purposes of this essay, content analysis focuses on the texts used by the government as they relate to the cycle of voting in established democracies suc h as the United States. As Krippendorff (2004) observes, â€Å"in governments in which succession is†¦regulated politically†¦predicting the succession of leadership†¦is a favorite game of political analysts and important to foreign policy decision makers† (p. 175). Content analysis remains a pivotal instrument that researchers use to â€Å"expose propaganda techniques† employed by the media (Krippendorff, 2004, p. 45). Perceived successes in foreign policy may be advertised via the media to engender support during an election drive. An example is the May 2011 coverage of the death of Osama bin Laden, utilized by the Democrats in a partisan manner, as well as by the Republicans, who argued that it was the policies of the George W. Bush administration that allowed Obama to capture the fugitive Al Qaeda leader (Adams 2011).Advertising Looking for essay on communications media? Let's see if we can help you! Get your first paper with 15% OFF Learn More Surveys (Polls) The proliferation of online media outlets leads to a more informal method of polling for governments to use in addition to the standard polls such as Gallup – monitoring online chat of a political through Twitter and Facebook, as well as reading the prevailing moods conveyed in the media blogosphere. Bucy (2005) argues that the media will facilitate change on both sides however, not simply as a tool for swaying votes; â€Å"since people will communicate their views on government more directly, rulers and representatives will become more sensitive†¦and, perhaps, more responsive†¦to lobbying and public-opinion polls, especially in established democracies† (Bucy, 2005, p. 9). Uses Gratification Model The uses and gratification model refers to a central tenet of media analysis – the effect of any given media depend entirely on who uses them, for what purpose and how often (Bucy 2009). As Bucy (2009) explains, â€Å"how a person is affected by a given communications medium depends on that person’s reasons and goals for using that medium†¦People use the Internet for a variety of reasons and motivations†¦and will thus use it differently and it will have different effects on them accordingly. There is, in short, no simple sound bite for how using the Internet will affect an individual (Bucy, 2009, p. 196). Thus, any government’s use of the media to advance foreign policy propaganda will only have impact insofar as it reaches its intended targets and gratifies them in some way, be it through affirming their current belief system or adhering to existing prejudices and knowledge. The media must be consumed in order to have its desired impact; therefore people who do not engage with any given media outlet’s coverage of a particular foreign policy issue will feel little or no affinity to the message. Similarly, certain media appeal to certain mindsets; media consumers typical ly choose media outlets which conform to their view of the world. Conclusion One thing that can be ascertained from the research, the media remains a central player in any political outcome, particularly in a democracy where voters are free to identify with the media outlets of their choice. The vast network of media also acquires more power in the political climate political system, according to Sparks (2006), because the system itself is â€Å"more unstable. There are fewer people who identify strongly with a single party, more people who call themselves independents, and more people splitting their ticket at the polls. In such a volatile climate, scholars expect that the media might have more impact on the political process† (Sparks, 2006, p. 55).Advertising We will write a custom essay sample on Government Use of Media to Advance Foreign Policy Agenda specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More Governments can certainly be expected t o continue to deploy propaganda via various channels to sway voters however; voters, like consumers, develop media savvy in the same way that governments do. Media consumers actively engage with the media that affirms their existing worldview, thus the propaganda will likely be more readily sniffed out and either accepted or cast aside. Many topics you can chose from Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 3000 words

Many topics you can chose from - Essay Example Ground water can also lead to formation of wetlands or oases. There are ways in which ground water can be extracted from the earth’s surface for a score of uses. It can be used for home purposes, industrial usage, in addition to agricultural use for activities like irrigation. This can be possible by construction of extraction wells that draws water underneath the surface of the earth. Ground water has been distributed differently under the surface of the earth. In addition, underground water undergoes movement under the earth’s ground. Study of ground water motions, plus distribution is known as hydrogeology. It is also called ground water hydrology. Ground water can also include soil moisture, immobile water that is found in bedrocks that have very low permeability, and oil formation water that is found very deep in the earth’s surface. Ground water is thought to act as lubricants that cause movement of faults. The points under the surface of the earth where ground water originates are identified as aquifers. An aquifer has layers of porous materials that contain and transmit water. When aquifer is not confined, water can move freely between the earth’s surface and the saturated zone of an aquifer. Since gravity causes water to move downwards, deeper zones of the aquifer are further saturated as compared to the upper parts. Water table refers to the upper zone of the saturated layer of an unconfined aquifer. Below the water table, all spore spaces are saturated with water. This zone is known as phreatic zone. There is a substrate that slight porosity and allows little transmission of ground water. This substrate is called an aquitard. Aquifers have diverse features depending on the geology, and the structure of the substrate as well as the topography in which they happen. Aquifers that contain a high amount of water are situated in sedimentary geologic formations. Crystalline rocks that are weathered and fractured produce a
